Research interests:

Multi-locality of working. I have investigated the emerging workplaces and related socio-spatial characteristics, within urban regions and cities. I have explored urban spaces and technologies which are integrated into new working practices and arrangements. There is a call for a new understanding of the reasons why people work in multiple places. We defined them multi-local workers. More over, I have focused on how the disappearance of the traditional functionalist divisions between housing, work and services challenges urban and regional planning as well as governance structures.

Sustainability, ecology and biodiversity in strategic and land use planning. I have conducted doctoral and post-doctoral studies on knowledge gaps on Green infrastructures and Ecosystem services within the land use changes as well as the knowledge gap between academics and practitioners. My research interest also focuses on understanding the ‘discourse formations’ between all the actors involved in policy-making processes and planning when dealing with green infrastructure, ecosystem services and urban development.

Planning in the age of Web 2.0 – real and virtual participation. This study focuses on the new ways that social media (such as Facebook and Twitter) and Web 2.0 platforms stimulate full active participation and collaboration in the planning processes.

Architecture and planning education: how to support skills, knowledge and experiences in interdisciplinary and inter-professional context. The research aims to provide an understanding of skills, knowledge and experiences that are required to become proficient in the careers of architects and planners (both academics and professionals). The research also focuses on what kind of curriculum is needed in architecture and planning education.
